The Termedia portal has published an article entitled "Alterations in the transcriptional profile of genes related to glutamatergic signalling in animal models of Alzheimer’s disease. The effect of fingolimod", which was published in the "Folia Neuropathologica" journal issued by MMRI PAS together wiht the Association of Polish Neuropathologists. Its authors are 4 scientists from our Institute: Grzegorz Sulkowski PhD, Przemyslaw Leonard Wencel PhD, Beata Dabrowska-Bouta PhD, prof. Lidia Struzynska PhD and prof. Robert Strosznajder PhD.

A glutaminergic system dysfunction has been reported to be involved in the pathomechanism of the Alzheimer’s Disease. The study analysed the transcriptional profile of the genes related to the glutaminergic system homeostasis and the effect of fingolimod in the animal model of this disease.
Genes encoding glutamate membrane-bound and vesicular transporters as well as ionotropic and metabotropic receptors were also analysed.
