Hypoglycemia is common in patients with diabetes. It is reported in up to 10% hospitalized patients. It has been shown that hypoglycemia in those patients is independently associated with mortality. The pilot retrospective proof of concept study revealed that in the Diabetes Clinic CSK MSW hypoglycemia in hospitalized patients is underreported. The planned study is a multicenter study of retrospective-prospective design. Primary aims of the study (i) to assess the accuracy of reporting of hypoglycemia to the National Health Fund, (ii) to assess predictors of hypoglycemia in hospitalized patients; (iii) To assess predictors of hypoglycemia after hospital discharge. Information will be collected in all hospitalized patients with diabetes in one year preceeding the study start. Paralelly, all admitted patients with diabetes will be included into the study prospectively during one year after the study start. Collected information will differ somewhat in a prospective and in a retrospective arm.
