Current research program of the Department of Neurooncology
- The role of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs): microRNAs, lncRNAs and circular RNAs in the pathogenesis of human glioblastomas.
- Stem cells initiating the formation of glioblastomas (glioblastoma stem-like cells) as a potential therapeutic target.
- Use of extracellular vesicles as carriers of therapeutic molecules.
The area of the research in which the candidate would participate:
- Human mesenchymal stem cells as donors of extracellular vesicles (exosomes) with modified cargo.
- Extracellular vesicles carrying microRNA in experimental immunotherapy for glioblastoma.
Description of job position activities:
- active participation in the scientific activities of the Department of Neurooncology, the Institute, and the scientific community,
- active acquisition of research funding by preparation of grant applications in accordance with competition rules,
- analysis of the obtained data,
- preparation of manuscripts and their publication,
- preparation of conference presentations, and representing the Institute at scientific conferences,
- active participation in seminars, courses, and training.
Obligatory requirements:
- at least a Ph.D. degree in medical, biological or related sciences,
- at least 2 original articles in scientific journals indexed in JCR, including at least one of which the candidate is the first author, the first equal author or a corresponding author, published after obtaining the Ph.D. degree, but not containing the results of the Ph.D. thesis,
- documented participation in managing at least one research project for which financing has been obtained through competition,
- hands-on expertise in human cancer cell cultures (glioblastoma), including cancer stem cells in a three-dimensional model (spheroids), and human mesenchymal stem cells;
- hands-on expertise in isolation (including ultracentrifugation), and characterization of human cell-derived extracellular vesicles parameters, such as Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA);
- hands-on expertise in digital PCR;
- documented active participation in national and international conferences and symposia,
- indicating the Mossakowski Medical Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences as the first-place
employer, - fluency in English, both spoken and written.
Additional requirements (desirable):
- experience in microscopic techniques,
- knowledge of statistical and bioinformatic methods,
- creativity, readiness for new challenges, and ability to work in a team.
