On behalf of our Department of Immunology we cordially invite to the lecture of
prof. Mikołaj Słabicki
"Novel Mechanisms of Small Molecule-Induced Protein Degradation"
which will take place on December 9, 2024 at 15.00 via the Microsoft Teams platform (link below).
Mikołaj Słabicki is a professor at Harvard Medical School and head of a research group at the Mass General Cancer Center.
Prof. Słabicki's team is engaged in discovering new mechanisms of degradation of pathogenic proteins, potentially susceptible to pharmacological modulation. This research focuses on the mechanisms of removal of unnecessary or damaged proteins, with particular emphasis on E3 ligases responsible for marking proteins for degradation. Using methods of functional genomics, cell biology, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and chemical and biochemical tools, scientists from Prof. Słabicki's group reprogram the ubiquitin-proteasome system to identify and characterize new therapeutic possibilities. Their research not only expands basic biological knowledge but also contributes to the creation of new therapies for diseases that currently have no available treatment options.
