We are pleased to announce that Krzysztof Domka, MD, a PhD student at the Department of Immunology, has been included on the prestigious list of the 100 most talented young researchers awarded in the 2025 edition of the START programme by the Foundation for Polish Science.
Krzysztof Domka is currently pursuing his doctoral degree under the supervision of Małgorzata Firczuk, PhD, Professor at MMRI PAS, while also undergoing specialty training in pathology at the Medical University of Warsaw. His scientific work focuses on the biology of Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL), specifically on the regulation of CD20 expression and the impact of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) on the effectiveness of anti-CD20 antibody immunotherapy. He is a co-author of publications in Haematologica and Oncogene, and in he 2023 delivered an oral presentation at the annual congress of the European Hematology Association (EHA). He has twice been awarded the Polish Ministry of Health Scholarship for Students for significant scientific achievements.
He currently leads a PRELUDIUM project funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), in which – in collaboration with Michal Šmída’s team at CEITEC in Brno – he uses CRISPR/Cas9 library screening to identify genes involved in therapy resistance in leukemia cells.
