The current research program of the Behavior and Metabolism Research Laboratory.
The Laboratory focuses on investigating schizophrenia-like behaviors in spontaneously hypertensive rats, SHR.
The behavioral experiments aim to validate these rats as an animal model of schizophrenia. A key aspect of the ongoing research projects is the analysis of ultrasonic vocalizations in rats and mice as an objective indicator of emotional states and social functioning. The research is carried out in collaboration with national and international scientific institutions, utilizing advanced behavioral testing methods as well as bioinformatic approaches to data analysis. The Laboratory is also involved in several scientific cooperation efforts in which various behavioral methods are used.
The area of the research in which the candidate would participate:
- Behavioral studies aimed at validating the SHR strain as an animal model of schizophrenia.
- Research on the characteristics and structure of ultrasonic vocalizations in rats.
Description of job position activities:
- Conducting scientific research on animals.
- Introducing new research technologies to enhance the quality of scientific investigations.
- Actively publishing research findings.
- Preparing research proposals to secure funding.
- Actively participating in the Laboratory's scientific seminars.
- Representing the Laboratory at national and international scientific conferences.
Requirements for the position of assistant:
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in the field of medical, biological or related sciences.
- Ability to design, organize, and conduct scientific research and formulate research hypotheses.
- Knowledge of behavioral research techniques.
- Experience in working with animals.
- Independence and good work organization.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Fluency in English.
- Indicating the Mossakowski Medical Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences as a first place of employment.
Additional requirements (preferred):
- Scientific publication record in the field of behavioral research.
- Familiarity in techniques of animal vocalizations analysis.
