The
current research program of the Department of Immunology:

The research conducted in the Laboratory of Immunology focuses on mechanisms regulating the activation of cells of the immune system, cancer immunotherapy with the use of monoclonal antibodies, and effector cells including cells modified with chimeric antigen receptors (CAR). We perform basic research in the field of tumor immunology, as well as translational research aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of cancer therapies.


The
area of the research in which the candidate would participate:

investigating the molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying the development of resistance of cancer cells

to CAR-T therapy and bispecific monoclonal antibodies (BiTEs);

optimizing and implementing a platform for CAR and BiTE vector cloning and subsequent production;

• developing in vitro models of resistance to CAR-T therapy and bispecific monoclonal antibodies (BiTEs).


Description
of job position activities:

planning and conducting experiments related to the development and characterization of in vitro models of resistance to adoptive therapies in various cancer cell models;

production and culture of CAR-modified T lymphocytes;

optimizing the process of generating in vitro models of resistance to adoptive therapies;

validating and characterizing the obtained models using flow cytometry, Western blotting, and RT-qPCR;

investigating transcriptomic and epigenetic changes using advanced RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) and chromatin sequencing (ATAC-seq) techniques;

active participation in scientific conferences;

preparing publications for world recognized scientific journals;

obtaining external funding for research projects: writing individual grant projects and in consortia;

active participation in the scientific and educational life (providing support for trainees from Students' Science Association) of the Department and the Institute;

activity for the dissemination of science.


Requirements
for the position of assistant:

having a master’s degree (or equivalent) in the field of medical, biological, or related sciences;

experience in culturing cancer cell lines;

experience in isolating and culturing immune cells;

experience in basic molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, RT-qPCR, cloning);

experience in performing functional cell tests, with particular emphasis on flow cytometry;

documented active participation in conferences and scientific internships;

independence and good organization of work;

creativity, ability to work individually and in a team;

fluency in English, both spoken and written;

indication Mossakowski Medical Research Institute Polish Academy of Sciences (MMRI PAS) as a first place of employment.


Additional
requirements (desirable):

experience in working with lenti- and retroviruses under BSL-2 conditions;

experience in modifying primary T lymphocytes using CAR vectors;

knowledge of modern omics research techniques (ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, scRNAseq) and genome editing methods;

ability to analyze data and knowledge of statistical methods used in scientific research, ability to use software for statistical data analysis (e.g., GraphPad Prism, SPSS, R, Statistica);

documented participation in the research projects for which funding was independently obtained through competitions.
