The current research program of the Tumor Microenvironment Laboratory:
• investigation of tumor microenvironment biology, with particular emphasis on glioblastoma (GBM)
and glioblastoma stem-like cells (GSCs) that initiate tumor development;
• elucidation of the mechanisms governing interactions between tumor cells and the microenvironment;
• analysis of the role of extracellular vesicles in intercellular communication and modulation of the tumor microenvironment;
• development of novel therapeutic strategies, including approaches based on immunotherapy and oncolytic viruses;
• development and application of advanced experimental models, including 3D cultures, organoids, and in vivo models;
• integration of multi-omic data in translational glioblastoma research.
The area of the research in which the candidate would participate:
• studies on the role of the tumor microenvironment in regulating glioblastoma cell growth, plasticity,
and invasiveness;
• analysis of communication mechanisms between tumor cells and immune cells;
• development and application of ex vivo and in vivo models for the evaluation of novel immunotherapeutic strategies;
• analysis of molecular and cellular changes induced by anticancer therapies;
• identification of biomarkers of therapeutic response in glioblastoma using multi-omic approaches.
Description of job position activities:
• conducting research using 3D models, including organoids;
• participating in the design and implementation of in vivo studies, as well as collection and processing of biological material;
• preparing material for high-throughput analyses, including transcriptomic, and proteomic analyses;
• implementing new research technologies to improve the quality of scientific studies;
• active participation in the scientific activities of the Laboratory, the Institute, and the scientific community;
• active acquisition of research funding by preparation of grant applications in accordance with competition rules;
• active participation in the implementation of research projects;
• preparing reports on conducted research;
• analysis and presentation of the obtained data;
• preparation of manuscripts and their publication;
• preparation of conference presentations, and representing the Institute at scientific conferences;
• active participation in seminars, courses, and trainings.
Requirements:
• MSc degree (or equivalent) in medical sciences, biological sciences, or a related field;
• experience in molecular, cellular, and immunological techniques, including preparation of biological material for high-throughput analyses;
• experience in laboratory work involving cell culture, 3D models, and preparation of material for transcriptomic, proteomic, and immunological analyses;
• experience in working with animal models, including valid authorization to conduct experiments on laboratory animals;
• experience in the analysis and interpretation of biological, immunological, and omics data;
• documented activity in applying for research funding or participation in the preparation of grant applications;
• experience in developing research results and preparing reports and scientific manuscripts;
• independence and good organizational skills;
• creativity and ability to work in a team;
• indication of Mossakowski Medical Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences as the first place
of employment;
• fluency in English.
Additional requirements (desirable):
• familiarity with methods for preparing biological material for scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and mass spectrometry-based proteomics;
• familiarity with ex vivo models used in cancer biology research, including 3D cultures, organoids, and oncolytic viruses;
• ability to analyze and present acquired results;
• knowledge of statistical and bioinformatic methods used in scientific research;
• documented participation in scientific conferences;
• authorship/co-authorship of scientific publications;
• ability to design, organize, and conduct scientific research and propose research hypotheses.
