Heartfelt congratulations to the winners of Weave – UNISONO: MMRI PAS researcher, Prof. Joanna Sypecka and her team!
In collaboration with the researchers from the University in Lausanne, they will conduct research into the role of autophagy in oligodendrocytes in hypoxic-ischemic perinatal brain injuries. Polish researcher will obtain jointly over PLN 1,8 million for the research: PLN 1,68 million from National Science Centre and CHF 450,000 from the leading agency, Swiss National Science Foundation. The proposal by Polish-Swiss research team was assessed according LAP procedure by Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Despite significant advances in neonatology and perinatal care, neonatal asphyxia still poses a challenge as the most common cause of brain injury in the newborn. Innovation research conducted within the awarded research project will enable for the understanding of the intracellular mechanisms that lead to pathomorphological changes in the nervous tissue, which may potentially result in the new and effective therapies to prevent the consequences of the injury.
Rare diseases - conference

This year, our Institute joined the group of co-organizers: the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics Polish Academy of Sciences, the EB Polska Foundation, the Institute of Mother and Child and the Polish Biochemical Society.

Solidarity with Ukraine
The Board of Directors, Scientific Council and Employees of the Mossakowski Medical Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences are shocked by today's events in Ukraine
1. We condemn Russia's aggression against the sovereign state of Ukraine;
